Combinatorics is a tool of probability calculus.
What are the reasons for introducing combinatorics and probability calculus in school teaching and in professional work?
Probability calculus taught well: :
- shapes probabilistic intuition for random experiments characterised by the property of frequency stability;
-teaches the use of probabilistic methods to solve practical problems such as Hardy-Weinberg's law of inheritance or other genetic laws.
- introduces the different distributions of random variables, in particular the Gaussian normal distribution and its applications, for example in error calculus, the binomial exponential distribution and others.
- gives examples of the use of these distributions in everyday life.
Professionally, probability calculus has applications in areas such as device independence, forecasting and stocastic programming, life insurance risk theory, portfolio theory and others....
It is an introduction to mathematical statistics.
